Blessings in a Simple Life
There are tiny glimpses of miracles everyday in life; I am writing this blog as a way to keep track of the simple joys that God has given me in an ordinary day.

I realized today that my mission to document the special moments in my life has been put on the shelf for the past couple years. It is not that I have nothing to share or that it is unimportant, but I truly have just not had the time. I had a couple things happen today with Aiden that I thought were special moments and I realized that I probably would not remember them if I did not document it somehow!

Aiden Wesley - July 2010, 5 years, 6 months

My sweet boy is getting ready to start kindergarten in three weeks. It is truly hard for me to believe that he is big enough, but know logically that, yes, he is that age. He is not in any way apprehensive about it, but rather quite excited. He has been spelling words, writing, and reading all summer. I asked him today why he isn't waiting until his teacher teaches him how to write and read (not that I am discouraging him, just was curious) and he replied, "Because I want to know first so I can help Missa Russell in my class and play with the kids."

Aiden and Abigail picked out their favorite organic kids' yogurt yesterday. This morning, that was what they requested for breakfast. When I opened the carton, there was a little magnet inside with a dinosaur on it holding the letter R. I guess each container has a different letter of the alphabet. So, I opened the magnet and put it on the refridgerator, then delivered breakfast to the kids. Never again did the magnet cross my mind. As I was getting eggs out while cooking dinner, Aiden's soft, excited voice exclaimed, "Oh, Mommy! We had a delivery! An angel brought us a magnet!" I laughed a little and asked him why he thought an angel brought it. He answered, "Because I didn't see it. They always give my nosy freckles when I am sleeping and don't see them, too!" My only thought was, "Please, dear Lord, let my boy always be this sweet!" (Don't worry, Bible scholars, I explained a bit about what angels do so he wouldn't think they were like Santa Claus or something. )

This evening, while I was typing a bit of my homework, Aiden came into the living room with a toy pager and toy key chain clipped onto the waistband of his shorts. In his hands were his baby doll, which he named Moses (after Suzanne's sweet boy Moses), a baby doll bottle, a baby doll sleeper, and a baby doll carseat. He brought the toys to me and said he needed me to watch Moses. I was instructed when to feed him, when to put his 'jamas on, to use the carseat if I needed to take him anywhere, and to call his "cell phone" if Moses needed him. I asked if the toy pager was his cell phone and he got a confused look on his face. He said, "No, mom, that's my radio. This is my duty belt. My cell phone is in my car that says, 'S-H-E-R-I-F-F' on it. See? I'm a police offifer like daddy." (No, I did not spell officer incorrectly, that was how he said it.) I thought it was cute. He wants to be like his daddy, which includes being a daddy. = )

Well, as always, I am out of time to continue. I hope if anyone reads this, they find a smile in it like I have!
