Wes was away for SWAT training at Blackwater from Sunday through 12:30am Thursday. Since he got back earlier than expected, he decided to go in to work for his day shift Thursday instead of taking it off as he had planned. Since Wes's birthday was on Wednesday, the kids and I were going to decorate and bake him a cake yesterday for when he got home from work so we could celebrate his birthday. I met my friend Carrie for lunch at 11:30, and right after I left, his Captain called me on my cell phone. At first, from the sound of his voice, I thought he was calling to get some dirt on Wes that he could use at work to tease him for his birthday. He then, calmly, let me know that Wes was at the ER and that he had gotten rearended...hard. Hard enough that his patrol car no longer has a trunk. Chesska is fine, thank the Lord! So, we spent yesterday afternoon at Watauga Medical Center, watching Wes go through MRI, CT Scans, and X Rays. His bones are fine, but he has multiple muscle tears, ligament tears, and bulged discs from the base of his head, through his sacrum. His sternum is badly bruised from the seat belt, and had initially knocked the wind out of him. I am getting ready this minute to take the kids to my mom's for an overnight stay so I can help get his muscles to relax. I will be getting a lot of massage practice this weekend! He is wanting to get completely better before 10-21, which is when he leaves for Manta in Wilmington, NC, for more SWAT training. Please pray for his healing in the meantime, if you do not mind. I love you all and you are in my prayers, too!
