My Light
by: Jamie Hawkins
There was a thick darkness-
My heart, my life.
It grew daily-
Fed by pain, grief, anger-
It's abandonment by its desire,
By its obsession.
The darkness became Form,
An engulfing liquid force.
I allowed it to overcome me-
Mind, body, soul-
Darkness.
You.
You were the light-
The light that illuminated
The shell of who I was.
You breathed hope into me,
You knew me.
You knew a me that I had not met,
Not then.
You saw what I could not see,
That I am a gift,
As all people are to some.
You were a gift to me.
A gift of lightIn a world of darkness.

*Liking cottage cheese on pizza,*Reading Edgar Allen Poe while sunbathing,*Arranging every box of crayons in rainbow order (colored pencils, pastels, etc. too) since childhood,*Being described as, "comfortable...like a pair of broken in jeans that you buy when you're 22 and never get rid of...because they are THE pair of jeans" (my fave compliment - I love you, too, Daniel!),*Loving everybody in the world, sometimes too much,*Being silly a minimum of twice a day,*Practicing what I preach to my fertility and positional clients,*Loving the styles, trends, and music of the sixties and seventies,*Having a heart shaped freckle on the palm of my hand,*Getting so much joy by pampering people everyday...These are ten very origianl ingredients. Ten original ingredients that God used to make me. I am an origianl creation. My DNA was chosen specifically to make me who I am. A few people love me, some like me, and some do not...what matters most is that God would not ever trade me in. If I were the only one on this earth, He'd have still sent His Son to save me. How amazing is that? Weird pizza toppings and all!

Most of you know that Wes was shot two weeks ago while on duty. He has healed very well physically and emotionally. I want to share the many ways we have been blessed by such a horific occurrence. First and foremost, we were blessed by Wes' minor injury. He was not wearing his bullet proof vest because it was broken and his new one had not come in yet. He had other bullet holes in his shirt, but walked away with a very minor injury to his forearm. A 9mm bullet isn't something you can dodge, so we know without a doubt that it was God's hand protecting him. Second, we have been so very blessed by our church, our community, and the other law enforcement families here by all of their support and prayers for our family. It has truly touched our hearts and brought us into a closer fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Third, our marriage has been blessed. We have had many difficulties the past few years, mostly with Wes' not putting our family before himself. He has been trying hard to make small changes to put us before himself a little more, which has been a nice change. The kids are very happy that daddy is starting to participate in their daily care and play. I am happy that he is actually telling me he loves me before he leaves and is giving me a kiss with it sometimes, too. Small steps, but they are making such a big impact. We have so much to be thankful for!

I, by no means, am a photographer, but I thought a few of the pictures I just got back were pretty good and I wanted to share them with anyone who might drop by. They are a bit old, but they will do until I take some more!Dino Love: Abigail, October 2005

Boone has once again been frosted over by the sparkling presence of snow and Abigail has graciously accepted the role as Snow Princess. She played in the snow all day, sledding, building her first snowman, and getting in a snowball fight with her Grampa. It has been very exciting! Aiden was not exactly thrilled to be in the snow, but who can blame him? His little bitty 13 month old legs don't exactly get around in snow bibs just yet. I am sure he will be bombing his sister with a few snowballs next year!
