Most of you know that Wes was shot two weeks ago while on duty. He has healed very well physically and emotionally. I want to share the many ways we have been blessed by such a horific occurrence. First and foremost, we were blessed by Wes' minor injury. He was not wearing his bullet proof vest because it was broken and his new one had not come in yet. He had other bullet holes in his shirt, but walked away with a very minor injury to his forearm. A 9mm bullet isn't something you can dodge, so we know without a doubt that it was God's hand protecting him. Second, we have been so very blessed by our church, our community, and the other law enforcement families here by all of their support and prayers for our family. It has truly touched our hearts and brought us into a closer fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Third, our marriage has been blessed. We have had many difficulties the past few years, mostly with Wes' not putting our family before himself. He has been trying hard to make small changes to put us before himself a little more, which has been a nice change. The kids are very happy that daddy is starting to participate in their daily care and play. I am happy that he is actually telling me he loves me before he leaves and is giving me a kiss with it sometimes, too. Small steps, but they are making such a big impact. We have so much to be thankful for!
