Blessings in a Simple Life
There are tiny glimpses of miracles everyday in life; I am writing this blog as a way to keep track of the simple joys that God has given me in an ordinary day.

We have been enjoying a beautiful Fall in Watauga County for over a month now. Our highs have not passed 62, and our lows have dipped into the twenties. Abigail has had her first snow day, though we did not get any at our house. Every morning, I wake up and bring Abigail to school. The drive reminds me daily how truly blessed I am to live here. We live down a country road, 30 minutes from any town, in the middle of cattle fields and avid vegetable gardeners. We drive up our road, under the Blue Ridge Parkway, and along Old 421 to Parkway School. Across from the school entrence is one of the overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Every day for the past month, I have been amazed by the rich colors each sunrise has brought to the valleys I pass. The other day, Aiden and I stopped on that overlook and clicked a few, very quick, very unprofessional pictures. Unfortunately, they did not capture that rosy-gold hue that graces the trees, the cerelean blue sky, purple mountains, and pink clouds. I am going to post a couple of the pics, so you will just have to imagine those colors in them. Here are a few of my A-Team from Halloween, and from our fieldtrip to the Perry-Lowe Apple Orchard. I hope that you all are finding some joy in your lives this Fall, even if it is as simple as driving your child to school!

My group at the Apple Orchard. Molly, abigail, and Aiden.

Molly and Abby picking "Pink Ladies".

Aiden was fascinated with the scarecrow they had near the "play area". The orchard owners set up a hay maze and sand pile for the kids to play in. We had a great time!

Abigail's class and teacher getting ready for their picture to be taken by the scarecrow.

Sunrise near my house.

The valley view near Abby's school.

Some of our Autumn colors.

The bushes I like near our house. They are covered in flowers in the Spring, green all Summer, and red in the Fall.

This Fall brought some of the prettiest leaves I've seen in the 10 years I've lived here.

Home from school and ready to get her costume on!

Aiden was excited to dress up. This was the first year that he understood what all was going on.

My mom made both of their costumes.

Abiagil was "Prilla", one of the Pixie Hollow fairies from Neverland.

Aiden was "Aidenosaurus", mommy's little dinosaur.

After walking 3 miles on the Greenway in Wilkesboro, Abby opted for a Grampa ride!

By the end of our Greenway trick-or-treating, Aiden was ready for some wheels!

We plant pumpkins every year, and many times have some HUGE specimens. This year, though, the deer ate most of the vines, so we just had quite a few of these little one, just the right size for painting and decorating, but not carving. That's ok...we'll carve one next year!
